Jason Nkanga
Jason Nkanga was born on the 10th of May 1998 in Lewisham, UK to Nigerian parents. He is a Hip-Hop/Rap artist who first emerged from his first single off his “Beyond My Imagination” mixtape titled “Remember You” on the 22nd of August, 2016. He spent most of his life in Abuja, Nigeria after relocating from the UK.
He talks about how his school Capital Science shaped his music career. Watching creatives perform and even getting the chance to perform with them during different talent shows boosted his confidence. Jason has been writing songs since he was 15, he talks about how he would write songs in class with beats he made in his head and how that helped him a lot with his songwriting, Although he would forget the tune of the songs when trying to rap to his classmates.
Music isn’t the only thing he is known for, Jason was known for his goalkeeping skills, He was his schools’ goalkeeper in primary school and even secondary school, but failure to pass his trials at A.F.C Bournemouth made Jason quit football and focus on his music.
On April 20th, Jason released his debut album consisting of 12 Tracks, Jason talked about how the passing away of his sister sparked the creation of the album. He dedicated this album to his late sister (Mrs. Victoria Nkanga), the late mother of his producer (Mrs. Ranti Daudu) and the late father of his friend (Mr. Michael Bamidele). In this album, he composed a song titled “It will all be okay” where he rapped about his sister.
He was introduced to Peter “Banx” Daudu (his producer) in 2016 and from the music, the two just grew a bond. He has worked with him on all his projects including the just-released album “The Calm Before The Storm”. Jason is inspired by artists like G-Eazy, Jermaine Cole, Eminem, Nasty C and Westside Boogie.
