Douglas Jack Agu (born 19 August 1989), better known by his stage name Runtown, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer. His first studio album “Ghetto University” was released on the 23 November 2015. Wizkid, DJ Khaled, Uhuru, Phyno and Anatii featured in this album as guest appearances. The success of the album, secured Runtown a spot as one of the “Top 5 Most Streamed Artist” of that year. The video clip for the song “Banger”, which featured South African band Uhuru, has more than 4 million views on YouTube.
Born in Enugu State but grew up in Lagos and later relocated to Abuja to live with his mother, after his father’s death. Runtown moved back to Enugu in 2005. In 2007 he moved to Lagos, where he collaborated with J. Martins and a Nigerian singer and songwriter Timaya. He started a record label “Penthauz” together with Phyno and later released two singles “Activity Pickin” and “Party like it’s 1980.
He then released a song titled “Gallardo”, which featured Davido. “Gallardo” won the Best Collaboration of the Year nomination at Nigeria Entertainment Awards in 2014. The video clip for this song has more than 8 million views.
On the 4th of November 2016 he released a beautiful ballad about love called “Mad Over You”. It was listed on the Twitter Top Tracks chart on the Billboard at number 38.
